About the Book
What is this about?
This book is hard to describe or categorize, but people love the messages and thoughts. So, I encourage you to give it a try. If you don't like it, Amazon will take it back!
When I found out about my ALS, I worried about my kids. I would not be able to teach them what I have learned about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a pretty good teacher, and have learned interesting things about the church and the doctrines. I wanted them to know what I know.
So, I went through my old talks and lessons to compile them for my kids. I always typed my talks and lessons, so most of the contents were already there (you can read in the footnotes for each chapter where the original came from, and some local references are still there).
This started as a personal book, then I shared it with some friends, and they all wanted a copy. I sent it to a renowned editor, retired from Deseret Book, and she loved it. So, suddenly this was a real thing.
Racing against my fading muscle control, I spent months working through every chapter, writing and adding and converting notes to paragraphs. I could only control one finger on a mouse connect ted to my phone. So I needed help from family and friends.
The result is my unapologetic testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. I try to separate the doctrine from the culture, but I am all in with the doctrines. Many friends with other beliefs have enjoyed the book. One Jewish family friend made a typed list of the principles he endorsed and presented it to my father.
I am nobody famous. I am just a guy with a testimony. So, I don't have a big book deal to promote it. But I present to you a professionally edited compilation of what I believe and why I believe it.
I hope you and my kids can build on what I have learned.
I hope this book makes you happy!
